Effective Rebellions: Celebrating the Writing of Lynne Tillman

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The panel will feature critical and critical-creative papers from myself and three other fiction writers/critics: Jess Arndt, Alexandra Kleeman, and Miranda Mellis. Our papers explore syntax, cognition, sex, ekphrasis, and genre across a range of texts from Tillman’s career. Tillman’s novels, stories, and essays offer so much to study and celebrate because she is always engaging with familiar modes—coming-of-age novel, art-critical essay—while consistently adding to our understanding of what these modes of writing can be. We will celebrate the sense of possibility, radical energy, and rigorous intellect that characterizes Lynne Tillman’s oeuvre.
